Lieutenant James Perez Commander of the Special Services Division has 19 years experience in law enforcement. He has been a task force member with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration; an Instructor for the D.A.R.E. program in elementary schools; and a member of the S.W.A.T. team for 14 years. He teaches Identity Theft and Scam Awareness programs throughout the State of CT, and has appeared nationally on NBC’s Dateline regarding scams against senior citizens.

Lt. Perez reviews traffic surveys and makes recommendations for improving traffic flow. He is the department liaison with the Police Commissioners and Town Engineer. Lt Perez assists the Chief in preparing the Police Department Financial Budget for his units. He also has advanced training and is an instructor in Terrorism Risk Assessment and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.
