The Field Services Bureau is the largest bureau of sworn personnel within the Department. The dedicated officers in this bureau play a vital role in safeguarding our community, providing essential law enforcement services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This bureau is divided into two main divisions, the Patrol Division and the Investigative Division.

Patrol Division

The Patrol Division consists of uniformed officers assigned to patrol duties.  These are the men and women you see in marked police vehicles throughout town responding to calls for service. They are on the front lines of ensuring public safety, responding to emergencies, and performing a wide range of functions essential to maintaining order in our community. Additionally, this division includes several specialized units, such as the Field Training Program, Bicycle Unit, K9 Unit, Emergency Services Unit, and Crisis Negotiation Team, further enhancing our capacity to serve and protect.

Investigative Division

Responsible for conducting criminal investigations, the Investigative Division handles a broad spectrum of offenses, including but not limited to narcotic violations, burglaries, larcenies, robberies, sexual assaults, missing persons, child abuse, homicide, financial and identity thefts, as well as other in-depth or long-term investigations. This division also oversees the approval of various permits, such as pistol permits, transient merchant permits, bazaar permits, and raffle permits.

Officer Wellness

The Field Services Bureau is responsible for oversight of Officer Wellness Initiatives and coordination of the Peer Support Program. 

The Fairfield Police Department is committed to prioritizing the well-being of our officers. Our goal is to ensure a holistic approach to their health, encompassing physical fitness, mental well-being, and stress management. The Peer Support Program, facilitated by the Bureau Commander, establishes a confidential network within the department, offering essential assistance to colleagues facing personal or professional challenges. By emphasizing officer wellness, we aim to cultivate a resilient force capable of delivering the highest level of service to our community.
